7 Evaluation criteria and Arcing Class for the Internal Arc test of ASSEMBLY as per IEC 61641

Arcing Class A, B, C according to personal protection from ASSEMBLY under Arc Fault and ASSEMBLY protection from internal Arc fault.
Criteria Evaluation Criteria Term Description Arcing
Class
A
Arcing
Class
B
Arcing
Class
C
Criteria to assess personal protection from ASSEMBLY under Arc Fault :
1 Correctly secured doors & covers of ASSEMBLY. A B C
2 Any Parts of the ASSEMBLY, which may cause a hazard, do not fly off. Parts less than 90 gram wight are allowed to flyoff. A B C
3 The Arc does not cause holes to develop in the external parts of the ASSEMBLY bellow 2 meters on the accessible side of ASSEMBLY. A B C
4 The indicators – Cotton Grid, placed vertically at a distance not more than 1 feet, do not ignite. A B C
5 The protective circuit for ASSEMBLY to remain effective, as per IEC61439 -1 & 2. A B C
Criteria to assess ASSEMBLY protection from internal Arc fault :
6 The ASSEMBLY to be capable of confining the arc to the defined area where it was ignited, and there is no propagation of the arc to other areas within the ASSEMBLY.   B C
7 After clearing of the fault or after isolation or disassembly of the affected functional units in the affected area, emergency operation of the remaining ASSEMBLY should be possible.     C
