To calculate Busbar Weight, First we need to define to Busbar Size.
Busbar Size depends on various factor namely, Current Rating, Fault Current, Voltage, Opeating Temperature, Assembly Size-Volume, Assembly type Indoor/Outdoor, IP, etc.
Basis all these Factors, once we define to size of the Busbar, following can be used to arrive to Weight of the Busbars :
The formula for weight calculation is:
Weight = (L / 1000) x (W / 1000) x ( t ) x ( ρ )
- Weight in Kg
- L = length in mm
- W = width in mm
- t = thickness in mm
- ρ = Specific material density in kg / dm3
How is busbar weight calculated?
- Define Lenth in mm
Busbar Straight Lengh in mm. Basis 3-Phase 3-Wire OR 3-Phase 4-wire system with Neutral 100% or 50%.
- Define width in mm
Basis Standard Available sizes, Width to be arrived.
- Define thickness in mm
Basis Standard Available sizes, thickness to be arrived.
- Define Specific material density
Basis busbar Material type, Aluminium OR Copper, Specific Material density to be defined.
For Copper – ρ Specific material density = 8.96 kg / dm3
For Aluminium – ρ Specific material density = 2.7 kg / dm3 - Now, basis above 2 details, use apply formula.
Weight = (L / 1000) x (W / 1000) x ( t ) x ( ρ )
